What UK retail drops actually paid, drop by drop
Most reselling figures you will read are either a screenshot or a guess. This tracks what UK retail drops have really been worth: 133 drops recorded between Nov 25 and Aug 26, each with the shelf price it launched at and the price it went on to sell for.
The median drop returned £78 a unit, a 115% return on the money spent. Entry prices ran from £2.19 to £1190, and 6 of them cost nothing at all. Everything here was available to anyone standing in the right shop on the right morning.
Which categories actually paid
Profit per unit and return on money spent are different questions, and the answer changes depending which you care about. Trading cards produce big cash spreads on big outlays. Pokémon returns the smallest median profit of any category here and one of the highest percentage returns, because the entry prices are low.

This counts drops whose outcome is known and recorded, not alerts sent, which is a far larger number. The rise through the summer is real and mostly reflects trading cards and collectibles becoming a bigger share of the UK drop calendar.

Method, and what this is not
The index collates from two places. Some drops we tracked ourselves through our own alerts and followed up afterwards. Others are drops anyone could have seen, where the resale figure has been checked against public marketplace sold data. Every row on this page shows which it is, and nothing enters without a source.
A drop qualifies when it is a UK retail release or clearance line sold at a published shelf price, and when its resale outcome is known. The retail figure is what it cost on the day. The resale figure comes from eBay UK sold listings afterwards, never from asking prices. Nothing enters on a prediction, and drops that went nowhere stay in rather than being quietly removed, because an index that records only the winners is an advert.
Profit is stated gross, as resale minus retail. Platform fees and postage come out of that and vary by category, so treat it as the spread rather than what lands in your account. The median is the number to read: a handful of very large results pull the mean well above what a typical drop returns.
This is a tracked sample rather than a census. It covers the categories we monitor, which are weighted towards trading cards, collectibles, seasonal retail lines and supermarket clearance, so it under-represents parts of the market we do not watch closely. Updated continuously as outcomes land.
