Why we called it

Sapphire is the top of the Chrome Disney pyramid — all-blue Sapphire Refractor stock, exclusive parallels, a Beauty and the Beast 35th Anniversary card in every box and an autograph checklist that runs to Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow. Last year's edition climbed to roughly £630 on the secondary market within weeks. This year's was called the day before the raffle.

The whole play was getting it at RRP through the EQL draw — rumoured around £299 in the UK against a $539.99 US sticker. Results came out on the 22nd, and early sales landed around £600 almost immediately. The post-drop guidance was specific: list at £650, don't panic-undercut, because demand is there and boxes don't ship for another 2–4 weeks.

The edge

What members knew before everyone else worked it out.

  • Chrome Disney is a proven riser — last year's Sapphire hit ~£630 and this year's checklist is stronger.
  • EQL raffle entry meant no bot war — just knowing the 4pm window and entering.
  • UK pricing (~£299) sat far below the US box price ($539.99) — an unusual regional edge.
  • Early sales printed ~£600 within a day of raffle results — roughly 2x before boxes exist in hand.
  • Hold-the-line guidance: £650 list, no undercutting, sell before shipping floods supply.

How it played out

#misc-alerts — call log
  1. 21 Jul

    Called ahead of the raffle

The 4pm EQL window flagged with last year's £630 comp attached and the UK-vs-US price gap spelled out.

  2. 22 Jul

    Raffle results land

Winners charged ~£299. Early secondary sales print around £600 the same day.

  3. 22 Jul

    The hold call

Post-drop update: list at £650 and let demand come to you — shipping is 2–4 weeks out, so the window is long.

The takeaway

A raffle win here was worth £300 the moment the email arrived. The edge wasn't speed — it was knowing which of the week's dozen drops actually carried a 2x, and having last year's numbers to prove it.
