Why we called it
Three cameras, one collaboration, and three completely different outcomes. The call went out at 13:00 with the Pokémon Center links and a simple argument: these are pre-orders, payment is taken when they ship on 29 September, and you can cancel at any point before that. About as close to a free option as this lane gets.
They sold out everywhere in roughly five hours. Polaroid, Pokémon Center and Amazon all shut on cameras the same afternoon.
The results are worth reading properly rather than as a headline. The Poké Ball Now Gen 3 at £129.99 is averaging £199, a tight band with the ask median sitting right on top of the sold range, so £52 to £75 net a unit. The Pikachu Go at £89.99 averages £133.82. The Sylveon Go, at the same £89.99, has sold precisely nothing against nineteen active listings. And a bundle of camera, film and strap cleared £351.23 against roughly £165 of retail.
The edge
What members knew before everyone else worked it out.
- Poké Ball Now Gen 3: £129.99 to a £199 average, the tightest band of the three and £52-75 net a unit.
- Pikachu Go Gen 3: £89.99 to a £133.82 average, still comfortably profitable.
- Sylveon Go Gen 3: £89.99 with zero sales against nineteen listings. It bricked, and saying so is the point of the ledger.
- Camera, film and strap bundled together cleared £351.23 against roughly £165 of retail, which beat any single unit.
- Pokémon Center is free to cancel until shipping, so a pre-order costs nothing to hold. Ships 29 September.
How it played out
- 25 Aug
Links go out
All three cameras posted at 13:00 with the pre-order argument: no payment until dispatch, cancel any time, so buy them all and decide later.
- 25 Aug
Sold out in ~5 hours
Polaroid, Pokémon Center and Amazon all close on cameras the same afternoon.
- 25 Aug
First UK comps
Recap published the same evening with per-SKU averages, the Sylveon brick, and the bundle result.
The takeaway
Two of the three printed and one did nothing at all, which is why we publish per-SKU numbers rather than a single figure for the collaboration. Anyone who bought all three still comes out well ahead, and anyone holding a Sylveon can cancel it for free.
