Why we called it
The Super Premium Collection has been the highest margin Pokémon item we have run in store for three months, roughly £90 in against £200 to £220 out. The difficulty has always been finding it. Through August it turned up in ones and twos at Rymans, Selfridges, Currys, Hobbycraft, Miniso, HMV, Waterstones, TG Jones and the Entertainer, and every one of those was a scramble.
Then the Smyths signal arrived, and it arrived in stages. On the Wednesday, three separate stores confirmed they had received stock and been told to hold it. That is unusual enough to be worth acting on, because a coordinated hold implies a coordinated release. By Thursday morning the picture firmed up: till blocks on every SPC until 9am Saturday, roughly twenty units per store, nationwide.
The final post went out on Friday morning. All Smyths stores had their stock, most with twenty to thirty-six units, and the instruction was simple: be there for five, aim to be in the top twenty of the queue, take someone with you. By Saturday evening the in-store take across the group was around £2,300 from that morning alone.

Separate confirmations that stock has arrived and staff have been told to hold until Saturday. Plan A and Plan B published the same evening.

The takeaway
