Why we called it
Not every heatwave flip needed £150 of capital. The mini desk fan was the pocket-money end of the same sweep: £15 at Lidl, £30–40 on eBay, with the article numbers included in the ping so members could run the in-store stock checker before leaving the house.
The same supply squeeze that took AC units to £600 applied all the way down the price ladder — every fan in Britain sold out at once, and even the smallest one doubled.
The edge
What members knew before everyone else worked it out.
- Lowest buy-in of the entire heatwave sweep at £15.
- Article numbers in the alert, checkable via /lidlstock before travelling.
- Free in-store returns — the risk was a bus fare.
- Doubled during the sell-out window, buyable in multiples.
How it played out
- 4 Jul
Swept up in the morning ping
Called alongside the bladeless fans with sold-listing proof attached.
- Same week
Everything sells out
The heatwave clears fans at every price point — the £15 mini doubles like the rest.
The takeaway
A £15 double is how younger members learn the mechanics before scaling up. Same ping, same playbook, smaller font.
