Why we called it
By mid-July the portable AC market had gone silly — every real unit in Britain was sold out or triple retail. Our alerts team called what happened next before it showed in the sold listings: buyers who couldn't get AC would settle for the best fan money could buy, and Shark's two premium models were about to inherit the demand.
The TurboBlade, Shark's £249.99 bladeless flagship, was moving at £350–400 on eBay — roughly ten units a day clearing over £350. The £129.99 FlexBreeze HydroGo misting fan ran alongside it at £180–215. Both went onto our AC monitor with dedicated keywords, and when SharkNinja restocked at 9am on the 15th, the ping landed the same minute.
The edge
What members knew before everyone else worked it out.
- Called as a pivot play: AC scarcity redirects demand into premium fans — spotted before the price spike peaked.
- TurboBlade: £249.99 → £350–400, with real volume (~10 units/day over £350).
- FlexBreeze HydroGo: £129.99 → £180–215, cut further by a 10% newsletter code.
- Free 30-day returns buying direct from SharkNinja — the downside was a return label.
- Members told to stick to neutral colourways — white, black and yellow move; pink sits.
How it played out
- 10 Jul
HydroGo called first
The misting fan flagged at £130 with free returns and a newsletter discount stacking the entry — members told to list at £210 and hold the price.
- 14 Jul
The full fan playbook
TurboBlade added with sold-listing volume attached. Both fans get dedicated keywords on the AC restock monitor.
- 15 Jul
9am restock caught
SharkNinja restocks both models. The monitor pings at 9am sharp — HydroGo still coppable during the window, TurboBlade sells through fast.
- Ongoing
Monitors stay armed
Demand cools with the weather but snaps back on every hot spell — the next heatwave wave is the resale trigger.
The takeaway
The AC squeeze was the obvious story; the money in week three was in knowing where the priced-out demand would land next. Members were positioned in premium fans before the market repriced them — and the monitor is still armed for the next hot spell.
