Why we called it
Dyson's wearable Hushjet Mini Cool was sold out on Dyson's own site in the middle of a heatwave — which is normally where the story ends. Our alert found it quietly in stock at Argos at £99, with click & collect available nationwide.
The structure of the flip was the clever part. Reserve via click & collect, list it while it's being held for you, and only complete the purchase once it sells. With Argos's free returns on top, members were effectively trading Dyson's brand demand with someone else's inventory risk.
The edge
What members knew before everyone else worked it out.
- Primary source (Dyson) sold out — Argos stock flying under the radar at £99.
- Click & collect meant you could sell before collecting, holding zero stock.
- Free returns covered anything that didn't move.
- Dyson brand plus heatwave demand held resale at £125–130.
How it played out
- 2 Jun
The early flag
The Hushjet sells out in the US within half a day, 20,000 on the waitlist. Monitors go live across five UK/EU retailers before a UK date even exists.
- 3–7 Jun
Colourway by colourway
The staggered drop pattern is mapped — pink, red, then blue. Members convert through the windows; successes confirmed at £130–145.
- 2 Jul
The Argos angle
With Dyson's site sold out in the heatwave, the alert flags live Argos stock at £99 — reserve via click & collect, sell before you collect.
The takeaway
A modest margin, but one of the cleanest structures of the fortnight: brand-name demand, a source nobody was watching, and a mechanic that meant you never held stock you hadn't already sold. Small flip, professional execution.
