Why we called it

Surging Sparks — the set with the Pikachu ex chase — was restocking across UK retail while its booster boxes traded at £200 on eBay. The November ping carried the Argos SKU for the in-store checker, the one-per-person caveat, and the practical fix: go with multiple people.

The set resurfaced in December through the corner-shop channel — half boosters at £71 → £115 in One Stops, Morrisons and Tesco Express — and again in the April Argos sweep at £230 a box. Chase sets don't die; they just keep reloading for whoever's watching the SKUs.

The edge

What members knew before everyone else worked it out.

  • A £56+ margin per box on a set with permanent chase-card demand.
  • SKU-level pings with the stock checker: verify before travelling.
  • One-per-person limits priced in — the multi-person route was part of the call.
  • Three separate waves caught: November boxes, December halves, April Argos.

How it played out

#pokemon-alerts — call log
  1. 16 Nov

    Restock ping

Boxes confirmed reloading nationally; SKU 7796582 posted for the checker.

  2. 11 Dec

    Corner-shop halves

Half boosters surface at convenience stores — £71 → £115.

  3. 27 Apr

    Still reloading

The April Argos sweep finds the same set at £143.64 against a £230 market.

The takeaway

A chase set at retail is a recurring event, not a missed one — as long as someone's watching the inventory systems. Three waves, five months, same SKU.
