Why we called it

Starbucks cup drops are a genuine resale lane — the November 2025 holiday Bearista still trades at £150–620. When the Pink Drink-inspired glass Bearista launched in stores on 13 July, the call went out the same morning: roughly £25 in, two per customer, in-store first-come-first-served, and only at company-owned stores — the Tesco, airport and service-station kiosks that don't carry merch were explicitly ruled out.

What made this call useful wasn't spotting the cup — TikTok did that — it was pricing the decay curve. A wide EMEA release meant this bear was far less scarce than the holiday one, so the guidance was £50–90 in the opening three to five days, cooling to £30–55 within two weeks: sell fast. Launch-window solds of £112, £134 and £143 rewarded the members who queued at open and listed the same afternoon.

The edge

What members knew before everyone else worked it out.

  • Launch-day call with the store logistics that matter: company-owned stores only, kiosks don't stock merch.
  • Two-per-customer cap, in-store FCFS from open — a queue-at-9 play, not a bot play.
  • Recent solds in the call: £112 · £134 · £143 against a ~£25 buy-in.
  • The decay curve priced upfront: £50–90 early, £30–55 within two weeks — wide EMEA supply caps the ceiling.
  • Heatwave + Bearista launch + World Cup final weekend all stacking demand into the same week.

How it played out

#misc-alerts — call log
  1. 13 Jul

    Launch-day call

The cup, the cap, the store list and the sell-fast window all posted before most stores opened.

  2. First 5 days

    The window

Early listings clear at £50–90 with standout solds over £100 — members told to list immediately, not hold.

  3. Two weeks on

    The cool-off lands

Prices settle toward £30–55 as EMEA supply saturates — exactly the curve the call priced on day one.

The takeaway

A four-times return on a £25 glass bear, available to anyone who knew which door to queue at and — more importantly — when to stop holding. Hype tells you what to buy; the numbers tell you when to sell. The second half is where the money is.
