Why we called it
For its 200th anniversary, evian marked its long Wimbledon partnership with three artist-designed puffer bottle bags — Ed Curtis, Hattie Stewart and Diana al Shammari each designing a run so small that only 200 bags exist worldwide. They were never sold: the only way in was a waitlist-lobby prize draw at 09:00 BST, entered from a phone, for free.
The call went out as part of the post-final Wimbledon sweep, with the mechanism spelled out: official Championships tie-ins get delisted once the tournament closes, and that delisting is the moment seasonal stock becomes a collectible. At 200 units and a £0 entry, the £80–250 estimate was pure margin for anyone drawn — with the standard provenance advice attached: keep it sealed, photograph the artist card, list fast while demand peaks.
The edge
What members knew before everyone else worked it out.
- Only 200 exist across all three artist designs — genuine scarcity, not marketing copy.
- Prize-draw only at 09:00 BST — it could not be bought, so a win cost thirty seconds of effort.
- Called inside the post-final window, when tie-in demand peaks and supply is about to be delisted.
- Part of a ranked Wimbledon sweep — the Strawberry Red Christy towel (£40 → £55–95) ran alongside it.
- Provenance guidance: sealed bag, artist card photographed, listed into the peak.

The finals
The Championships close — the window where Wimbledon tie-ins flip from merchandise to memorabilia.

The sweep is called
The 09:00 lobby flagged with the full post-final playbook: the bag as the headline, the towel and bag charms ranked behind it.

Delisting does the work
Official shop lines come down, 200 bags become the only supply there will ever be, and the £80–250 window opens.
The takeaway
The rarest item in this month's ledger was free. Scarcity plus a closing shop window is the whole mechanism — the draw decided who got lucky, but the calendar was never a secret to anyone reading the alerts.
