Why we called it
In summer 2026 the Allianz Stadium pitch — Twickenham, the home of England Rugby — was dug up and relaid for the first time in fourteen years. STIGA, the groundscare brand behind the work, encased pieces of the old turf in presentation cubes and gave them away through an Instagram prize draw. Only 100 exist worldwide, and entering cost nothing.
The category is proven at the top end: FIFA is currently selling authenticated World Cup final turf at $450–3,000 a piece, the $450 tier has already sold out, and the programme is tracking past $11m. The STIGA cube is twenty times scarcer than a single FIFA tier — and free — so we called it for what it was: a lottery ticket with an £80–250 estimated payout and zero downside.
