Why we called it

The first official GTA VI hardware, called a week before PS Direct opened. Black and white variants at £74.99, no payment until dispatch, and a market that had already decided it wanted them: pre-drop presale solds printed £187.90 for the black and £177.49 for the white before the order page existed.

The drop ran on 10 September and sold through. Two days later the settled market was £110-115, roughly £31 net after fees, with the presale prints gone the way presale prints usually go. The call priced that compression in from the start.

The reason to hold rather than dump was also in the call: GTA VI itself launches on 19 November, and licensed hardware tied to the biggest game release in a decade tends to climb back into launch week. John Lewis reloaded the white on 14 September with recent solds around £105, which set the floor.

The edge

What members knew before everyone else worked it out.

  • £74.99 in through PS Direct, charged on dispatch, cancellable until then.
  • Pre-drop presale prints: black £187.90, white £177.49.
  • Settled market £110-115 within two days, roughly £31 net a unit.
  • John Lewis white restock on 14 September sold around £105.
  • The 19 November game launch is the second window, and the reason the instruction was hold rather than race the bottom.

How it played out

#live-now · call log
  1. 3 Sep

    Called a week out

Both colourways posted with the presale prints and the free-option argument: no payment until dispatch.

  2. 10 Sep

    PS Direct drop

Sells through. Early listings ride the £177-188 presale prints down.

  3. 12 Sep

    Market settles

£110-115 confirmed, roughly £31 net. The call to hold into the game launch stands.

The takeaway

Licensed hardware compresses after every drop and climbs into every launch. Publishing the £187.90 print without the £110 settle would be marketing; publishing both is a ledger. The second window opens 19 November.
