Why we called it

A separate SKU from the Gears of War: E-Day Collector's Edition already logged here. This is the limited edition controller: the crimson Crimson Omen shell with the cracked stone finish, sold through the Microsoft Store, pre-order shipping in September at around £85.

We put it at roughly £130 and called it as a punt rather than a certainty, which is the honest framing. Limited edition Xbox controllers do not have the runaway history that console covers do on PlayStation, and this was flagged in chat as a possible return job rather than written up as a headline drop.

What makes it worth taking anyway is Microsoft's returns policy: sixty days on physical products, with free shipping both ways. On a pre-order that ships in September, that is a two month window to decide whether it holds. If it does not, it goes back and costs you nothing.

The edge

What members knew before everyone else worked it out.

  • ~£85 through the Microsoft Store against an estimated £130, so roughly £45 if it lands.
  • Sixty day returns with free shipping and free returns, which turns the pre-order into a free option.
  • Ships September, so you see the market before the return window closes.
  • Called as a punt rather than a certainty. Controllers do not carry the same scarcity premium as covers or consoles.
  • Distinct from the E-Day Collector's Edition console bundle, which is logged separately at £249.99 to £449.99.

The takeaway

Not every call needs conviction behind it. When the returns window is longer than the wait for the market to form, taking the position and deciding later is the correct move, and saying that plainly beats pretending to know.
