Why we called it
Deathwatch is the 2025 Reader's Choice winner, which is a genuinely unusual thing to be. Fans voted it back into print and Games Workshop upgraded the prize to a Special Edition, the first Reader's Choice winner ever to get one. That is a demand signal you rarely get in advance, and there was a second one underneath it: the out-of-print omnibus paperback had been selling at £42-80 used all summer.
The Australian drop had already run, and the comment threads told us what to expect. Gone in less than four minutes. Add to cart at 11:58 and it said out of stock. Price confirmed as the usual, roughly £50. We posted the call forty minutes ahead of the UK window with a £90-115 presale target.
It came in at £45, better than the estimate. The UK sold out in roughly twenty-five minutes through a checkout that fell over at 10:00, exactly as it had on the Galaxy in Flames Saturday, and twenty-seven copies traded on day one between £87.50 and £170.34, with twenty-two of them clustered between £87.50 and £110.
The edge
What members knew before everyone else worked it out.

- GW's site failed again at 10:00. Genuine buyers missing out is what feeds the aftermarket, so the outage cut both ways.

The takeaway
Three Saturdays in a row now, and the pattern is set: Black Library special and limited editions sell through in minutes, the site cannot cope, and the people who were already logged in at 09:50 are the ones holding stock. It is becoming a routine flip rather than an occasional one.
