Why we called it
Translucent OG green, a green-lit X on startup, an individually engraved serial number, and a bundle that includes the matching X25 controller and a Halo: Campaign Evolved download. Roughly £750, limit one per customer, release 13 November.
The reason this was a straightforward yes is the payment structure rather than the product. Charge happens on dispatch, you can cancel any time before then, and break-even is basically retail. Microsoft are charging almost nothing for the collectability, so the order costs nothing to place and nothing to hold.
The PlayStation 5 30th anniversary drop ran the perfect experiment for this: five SKUs, one drop, and the only variable that mattered was the cap. The numbered /12,300 unit went to 3.26 times retail. The other four, unnumbered, ran 1.07 to 1.38 times. All five sold out in minutes. The difference was that the numbered one was never restocked. The engraved serial here implies a fixed batch, though Microsoft have not published a number.

The takeaway
When the downside is a cancellation email, the only question left is whether the thing sells out, and a limited console with an engraved serial always does. The honest caveat is the one Microsoft left open: no published cap means no guarantee this behaves like the numbered PS5 rather than the unnumbered four.
