Why we called it

Six exclusive foil cards marking D23 2026: Angel, Pocahontas, Mushu, Judy Hopps, Mr. Incredible, and one mystery card. UK only, limit one per guest, and Disney themselves described the quantities as very limited. It shipped straight away rather than as a pre-order, which is unusual for this line and part of why it moved fast.

The mystery card is the actual hook. It is the first Lorcana card ever released publicly from Hyperia City, the Q4 2026 expansion, which gives the set collectability well beyond people who care about D23. That is why we expected it to run harder than a standard promo set.

It settled at £196. We called £250 plus, so the call was high, but £196 against £99.99 is still two times retail on a set that ships immediately. The 2024 D23 Collection is the reason to be patient with the rest: it still lists at £335-450 two years on. This line holds rather than decays.

The edge

What members knew before everyone else worked it out.

  • UK only, one per guest, and the queue is site-wide, so everyone shopping Disney Store was funnelled through it.
  • Positions are randomly assigned at 08:00, so arriving at 07:45 gave identical odds to 07:59. We told members not to bother refreshing early.
  • Getting through the queue does not reserve anything. Disney warn explicitly that stock can go while people are still waiting.
  • Settled at £196 against a £250+ call. Honest read: we were high, and it is still double retail.
  • The 2024 collection still lists at £335-450 and the D23 Show Bundle presold at $189.97 at the event, so holding is a real option here.

How it played out

#misc-alerts · call log
  1. 13 Aug

    Called the night before

Posted with the queue mechanics, the Hyperia City angle and an instruction to make a Disney account rather than use guest checkout.

  2. 14 Aug

    Twenty minutes out

Final reminder at 06:24 with the checklist: logged in, address saved, card saved, in the waiting room from 07:45.

  3. 14 Aug

    Sale opens 08:00

Random positions assigned. Members who had accounts ready get through; guest checkouts do not.

  4. 18 Aug

    Settles at £196

The drop update publishes the real number, corrects the £250+ call down, and advises listing at ~£200 or holding properly.

The takeaway

We called this at £250 plus and it landed at £196. Publishing that correction matters more than the miss does, because the useful instruction that came with it, list at about £200 or hold properly and do not sit in the middle, is the one that actually makes the money.
