Why we called it

Advent calendar season starts in August, which is the part most people get wrong. The Harrods fragrance calendar was the first to sell out in 2025, dropping on 5 August and going before it had properly launched. We posted the full breakdown on 1 August — unannounced, but with the previous year's date as the warning — and told members to have the app installed and be ready.

It landed on the morning of 3 August and sold out the same day. Roughly half of the 15,956 units went within hours. The 2025 edition retailed at £215 and resold between £310 and £345 with a two-per-person limit, and this year carries a structural upgrade: Harrods confirmed no international shipping, so overseas buyers who bought direct last year now have to go through resellers.

The edge

What members knew before everyone else worked it out.

  • £225 for twelve fragrances valued at £1,209 — three bottles alone justify the entry.
  • Parfums de Marly Delina Exclusif at £180, Thameen Patiala at £200, Ex Nihilo Brompton Immortals at £175.
  • 2025 proved the model at £215 → £310–345; 2026 is trading higher again at £450+, limit two per person.
  • UK-only shipping in 2026 materially widens the reseller's buyer pool versus last year.
  • Buy the Fragrance calendar specifically — Harrods run three, and the £270 Beauty and £99 Hair & Body versions are different products.

How it played out

#misc-alerts — call log
  1. 1 Aug

    Called before announcement

Posted unannounced on the basis that 2025 dropped on 5 August, with the app pre-order route and a monitor going live the next day.

  2. 3 Aug

    It drops

Live in the morning and pinged immediately. Roughly half of the 15,956 units clear within hours.

  3. 3 Aug

    Sold out

Gone the same day, exactly as called. The Beauty calendar at £270 remains available as a secondary play.

The takeaway

The whole call was made on a date pattern and a sold-out precedent, two days before Harrods said anything. In-store stock lands around 1 September and will be considerably harder to get — which is the argument for having bought it in August.
