Why we called it

B&M's pastel "Brunch Club" range came back to shelves in July after selling out in January. Nobody expects discount-chain own-brand tableware to resell, which is precisely the edge — the competition is thin because the assumption is that there is nothing there.

Nine days after the call we ran the whole range against completed eBay sales rather than asking prices, and published the results piece by piece. The Bow and Croissant doorstop was the pick: £6 retail against £13.99 realised across seven completed sales between 21 and 27 July, from seven different sellers, with a spread of just £1.07. Net of everything, £5.73 a unit.

The edge

What members knew before everyone else worked it out.

  • Doorstop £6 → £13.99 across seven sales by seven different sellers — a £1.07 spread, so the price is real.
  • Coffee Club Mug £3 → £9.73 · Water Bottle £6 → £10.75 · Ribbed Jar Candle £5 → £11.40 · Iced Coffee Tumbler £3 → £8.99.
  • Glass Spoons £1.50 → £5.49 is the best ratio in the range.
  • Sell on eBay, not Vinted — the crossover is about £10, and Vinted asks now sit below eBay realised prices.
  • In-store only at selected branches, and free in-store returns, so it is a footfall play with no downside.

How it played out

#ongoing-drops — call log
  1. 21 Jul

    The restock is called

Posted as a volume-and-patience play with the strongest pieces identified and a note to check each item on your phone in the aisle.

  2. 30 Jul

    The full comp review

Every piece re-run against completed sales. The doorstop emerges as the pick; the "double it on Vinted" line from January is retired.

The takeaway

The honest flag in that review matters as much as the numbers: the Petit Treats Mug looked like the best item on the board at £16–27, but all five sales came from 24–25 July, three from a single nine-feedback seller, and nothing moved for five days after. Grab it if you see it. Do not quote 4x to anyone.
